NEURONS

  • Neuron is the structural and functional unit of Nervous tissues.
  • Neurons have the least power of regeneration.
  • Structure of Neuron consist of 3 parts:-
      • Dendrites/ Dendrons
      • Cyton (Cell body/ Soma)
      • Axon
  • Cyton of Neurons have groups of ribosomes and RER called Nissil’s Granules.
  • Long fibre of the Neuron is called Axon which can be grey (non-myelinated) or white (myelinated).
  • Myelin Sheath is secreted by Schwann cells.
  • Cytoplasm of Axon is called Axoplasm and its cell membrane is called Axolemma.
