IMPORTANT POINTS

• Bees are one of the most important pollinator for flowering plants and pollinates around 80% of all the following plants.
• Sex determination is dependent on Haploid-diploid mechanism.
• Development of male bee (Drones) occurs when the Egg (female gamete) is not fertilized. The haploid egg divides by mitosis to produce fertile males having haploid body by a process called PARTHENOGENESIS. 
• Development of females occurs when the egg is fertilized by the female gamete.
• There are two types of females in a Bee colony i.e. Sterile female (Worker) and Fertile female (Queen).
