• Cell wall is thin and cellulosic having irregular thickenings of cellulose and pectin at corners

• Nucleus is present and peripherally located
• Present only in aerial parts of Dicots.

• Collenchyma is also called living mechanical tissue
• Provides flexibility to plant parts
• Photosynthesis (if chloroplast present)
